Irish ISEQ stock index fell slightly in 2011 -- back at Jan 1997 level + Global share, bond and commodity returns

The Irish stock exchange's ISEQ index fell slightly in 2011 to Jan 1997 levels, compared with big dips across Europe despite a recent recovery on optimism that the Eurozone debt crisis maybe easing. The US benchmark 10-year Treasury yield, a key rate for US government debt, ended the year below 2% for the first time since at least 1977. The benchmark German 10-year government bond yield in 2011 had the biggest annual fall since at least 1990. UK 10-year gilts closed at a record low. US natural gas prices have tumbled since 2008 because of the shale gas revolution.
